It's Purgatory on earth for the unfortunate Catholic clerics of Father Ted, the mid-1990s BBC situation comedy collected in its entirety in this five-disc package. Banished to Craggy Island off Ireland's west coast, Fathers Ted Crilly, Dougal Maguire, and Jack Hackett tended to their eccentric flock of locals, making the most of their situation by involving themselves in 24 episodes' worth of unholy misadventures. Winner of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for Best Comedy in the first and last of its three years, Father Ted also earned individual kudos for its stars Dermot Morgan (Father Ted), Ardal O'Hanlon (Father Maguire), and Kelly McGlynn, who portrays the trio's devoted housekeeper, Mrs. Doyle. In addition to the individual episodes, Father Ted: The Holy Trilogy includes the show's one-hour December 1996 Christmas Eve special, "A Christmassy Ted."
